Privacy policy — Grid Maker Pro app
Effective date: 19 June 2026 · Last updated: 22 July 2026
This policy covers the Grid Maker Pro: AR Art Tracing mobile app
(Android package com.gridmakerpro.app), published on Google Play by
Artistic Masterclass — the developer account of Sujith Puthran, the app's sole developer.
It explains every permission the app asks for, what it does with them, and exactly what data
does and does not leave your phone. The short answer:
your images, camera feed, and drawings never leave your device.
1Who this policy applies to
- Developer: Sujith Puthran, sole developer, publishing under the Google Play developer account Artistic Masterclass (personal account, India). "We" and "us" in this policy mean that developer.
- App: Grid Maker Pro: AR Art Tracing — Android package
com.gridmakerpro.app, distributed through Google Play, including its closed and open testing tracks. - Contact: support@gridmakerpro.com (or rockersujith@gmail.com, which reaches the developer directly).
The free Grid Maker Pro web tool at gridmakerpro.com is covered by a separate website privacy policy. This page is about the mobile app.
2Permissions the app requests
This is the complete list of permissions declared in the app's Android manifest, and the iOS equivalents. Nothing else is requested. Permissions marked runtime show a system prompt and can be denied or revoked at any time in your device settings; the app keeps working without them, minus the feature they serve.
| Permission | Type | Why the app needs it | If you deny it |
|---|---|---|---|
CAMERA |
Runtime | AR trace mode — showing your reference photo locked over a live view of your paper, canvas, or wall, and capturing a reference straight from the camera. Frames are rendered on-screen and never transmitted. | AR trace mode is unavailable. Grids, imported references, drawing, and export all still work. |
RECORD_AUDIO |
Runtime | Adds a sound track when you record a video of your AR tracing session. The microphone is only opened while a recording is actually running. | You can still use AR trace mode. Video recording is unavailable or silent. |
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES |
Runtime (Android 13+) | Lets you pick a reference photo from your gallery. On Android 13 and later the system photo picker may hand the app a single chosen image without any permission prompt at all. | You can still capture a reference with the camera, or use the bundled sample images. |
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE |
Runtime (Android 12 and older only — maxSdkVersion 32) |
The pre-Android-13 equivalent of the above: reading the reference image you select. | Same as above. |
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE |
Runtime (Android 9 and older only — maxSdkVersion 28) |
Saving an export or a recorded AR video to your gallery on older Android versions. On Android 10 and later this is not requested — the system media store handles saving without any permission. | Exports can still be shared or printed; saving straight to the gallery may fail on very old devices. |
INTERNET |
Automatic | Purchases, restoring a previous purchase, and fetching current prices. That is the app's only network use — see section 7. | Not user-deniable. With no connection the app runs fully offline; only purchase and restore need it. |
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE |
Automatic | Lets the billing library check whether you are online before attempting a purchase or restore. | Not user-deniable. No data is collected through it. |
com.android.vending.BILLING |
Automatic | Required by Google Play to offer in-app purchases and subscriptions. | Not user-deniable. You are never required to buy anything. |
WAKE_LOCK |
Automatic | Keeps the screen from sleeping while you are tracing or drawing, so a long session does not black out mid-stroke. | Not user-deniable. It grants no access to any data. |
…DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION |
Automatic, internal | A signature-level permission the Android support libraries add automatically so the app's internal broadcast receivers cannot be reached by other apps. It is a security measure, not a data permission. | Not user-deniable. It grants no access to any data. |
iOS equivalents
- Camera — "Grid Maker Pro uses the camera for AR trace mode and reference capture."
- Microphone — "Grid Maker Pro records audio with your AR trace videos."
- Photo library (read) — importing a reference image for on-device editing.
- Photo library (add) — saving an export or recording back to your library when you ask it to.
The app declares no location, contacts, calendar, microphone-in-background, advertising-ID, or device-identifier permission on either platform.
3What the app does not collect
- Your images and camera frames. Reference photos, live camera frames, AR overlays, drawings, and exports are processed entirely on your device. They are never uploaded, backed up to us, or transmitted to any third party by the app.
- Your identity. There is no account and no sign-in. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts.
- Your location. No location permission is requested, and no location is derived from your photos. The app does not read photo EXIF geotags.
- Advertising and tracking identifiers. The app contains no advertising SDK, no third-party
analytics or attribution SDK, and no crash-reporting SDK. It does not request the Android advertising ID
(the
AD_IDpermission is not declared) and does not ask for iOS tracking permission. - Your recordings. Audio and video you record stay on your device. We never receive them.
4What the app stores on your device
All of the following is local app storage, readable only by the app, and is deleted when you uninstall:
- Your settings and preferences, including overlay choices, colours, and opacity.
- AR calibration values, so the projection stays aligned between sessions.
- Your current session state, so you can pick up where you left off.
- A counter for the free monthly AR traces of your own photo, so the app knows how many remain.
- Temporary working files for image processing and export, in the app's own cache.
None of this is transmitted anywhere. The app's Android backup flag is set to false, so this
data is not copied into a cloud backup either.
5Purchases and subscriptions
Paid features are unlocked through in-app purchases processed by Google Play and managed via RevenueCat, Inc., our subscription-infrastructure provider. This is the only place any data leaves your device.
- What RevenueCat receives: a randomly generated anonymous app user ID created on your device, your purchase and receipt details from the store, your subscription status, and basic device and platform information (such as device model, OS version, app version, country, and the IP address inherent in making a network request). We set no custom attributes, and we do not send RevenueCat your name, email, or any device advertising identifier.
- What we receive: only whether the device in front of you currently has an active entitlement. We do not maintain a customer database of our own.
- What nobody but the store receives: your payment details. Card and billing information is handled entirely by Google Play; it never passes through the app or through us.
RevenueCat processes this data on our behalf as a service provider, on servers in the United States, which may mean your purchase data is transferred outside your country. See RevenueCat's privacy policy. Google Play purchases are additionally subject to the Google Privacy Policy. Pricing, renewal, and refund terms are on the subscription terms page.
6How this maps to the Play "Data safety" section
For transparency, here is the same information in the categories Google Play uses. "Collected" means data sent off your device. "Shared" has a narrow meaning there — transfer to a separate company for its own purposes — so purchase data is marked "no": RevenueCat only processes it on our behalf, under contract, and does nothing else with it. Section 5 spells out exactly what it receives.
| Data type | Collected | Shared | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photos and videos | No — accessed and processed on-device only | No | Grid overlay, AR tracing, export |
| Audio | No — recorded to your device only | No | Sound track for AR session videos |
| Personal info (name, email, address) | No | No | — |
| Location | No | No | — |
| Contacts, calendar, messages, call logs | No | No | — |
| Purchase history | Yes | No — processed by RevenueCat, Inc. as our service provider | App functionality: unlocking and restoring paid features |
| Device or other IDs | Yes — an anonymous, app-generated user ID | No — processed by RevenueCat, Inc. as our service provider | App functionality: matching a purchase to a device |
| Advertising ID | No | No | The app shows no ads |
| App activity, crash logs, diagnostics | No | No | — |
| Files, documents, app info | No | No | — |
Data sent for purchases is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. The app has no feature that transmits your creative work, so there is nothing of yours in transit to protect beyond that.
7When the app uses the network
Everything you actually draw with runs offline. The app connects to the internet only to:
- check on launch whether this device already has an active purchase to restore, and load current prices and available plans;
- complete a purchase, and
- restore a purchase you have already made.
All three go to RevenueCat and the Play Store, and carry only what section 5 describes. Fonts, all 82 overlays, sample images, and the AR engine are bundled inside the app, so nothing is fetched at runtime — with the network off, everything except purchasing still works.
8Saving, sharing, and printing your work
When you save a recording or an export, it goes to your device gallery (Android recordings are filed in a "Grid Maker Pro" album). When you use share or print, your operating system's own share sheet or print dialog opens and you choose the destination — a messaging app, cloud drive, printer, or file. At that point the file is handled by the app or service you picked, under its own privacy policy. We are not a party to that transfer and never see the file.
9Deep links
The app can be opened by links of the form gridmakerpro://open?overlay=…, which pre-select an
overlay. The values are checked against the app's built-in overlay list before anything is applied, and no
other information is read from the link.
10Beta and closed testing
Before public release the app runs in Google Play's closed testing track. If you email us to join, we receive the email address you send from and the Google account address you give us, and we use it for one purpose: adding you to the tester list in Google Play Console and telling you when the app goes live. We do not add it to a mailing list or share it with anyone. Ask us at any time and we will remove it. Your participation is also subject to Google Play's own privacy policy.
11Data retention and deletion
- On your device: everything the app stores is removed when you uninstall it. You can also clear it at any time from Android's Settings → Apps → Grid Maker Pro → Storage → Clear data.
- Purchase records: RevenueCat retains subscription records for as long as needed to keep your entitlement restorable and to meet legal and accounting obligations. Google Play retains its own transaction records under Google's policy.
- Deletion requests: email support@gridmakerpro.com and we will have the associated anonymous purchase record deleted. Because the ID is anonymous, please send the request from the account used for the purchase, or include the Google Play order number, so the right record can be found. Deleting a purchase record ends the ability to restore that purchase on a new device.
12Children
The app is a general-audience drawing tool. It is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that threshold), is not enrolled in Google Play's Families programme, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Because the app collects no identity data, the only record that can exist about you is an anonymous purchase record — section 11 explains how to have it deleted.
- Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR): processing purchase data is necessary to perform the contract you enter when you buy a subscription or lifetime unlock. There is no processing based on legitimate interest for advertising or profiling, because none takes place.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. There is nothing to opt out of.
- Complaints: you can raise a concern with your local data-protection authority, though we would appreciate the chance to resolve it first.
14Changes to this policy
If the app gains a feature that changes what data it handles, this policy is updated before that version ships, and the "last updated" date at the top changes with it. Material changes will also be noted in the Play listing's release notes.
