Colophon · Contributing writer

Contributing writer on applied and contemporary composition.

Marcus Reid writes the guides for composition off the canvas.

Where Sarah Chen covers the classical drawing lineage, Marcus covers where the same geometry shows up in moving and contemporary media: the film frame, the concept-art thumbnail, the comics page, and the counted craft grid. He writes the perspective, photography, and craft references on Grid Maker Pro.

§ I · What he covers

The same grids, used downstream of the easel.

Marcus came to composition through visual storytelling rather than the atelier: storyboards, layout, and the way a rule-of-thirds or dynamic-symmetry armature reads once it is moving at twenty-four frames a second. His brief on Grid Maker Pro is the applied half of the catalogue - the overlays as working tools for screens, sequential art, and craft, rather than as historical objects.

His pieces lean on the same citation discipline as the rest of the site: cinematographers and storyboard artists on their own published methods, platform and print specifications for the technical claims, and primary sources for any historical aside.

§ II · Selected writing

Guides authored by Marcus.
